On Tour - Greece and Crete ANZAC Day in Athens 2011 - 4 May 2011

Today we visited the area of the Pinios River Battle, the New Zealand 21 battalion Platamon delaying position, the New Zealand Division defence of the Olympus pass approach to Elassson and we went to the area of the battle at Tempe Gorge where the NZ 21 Bn with the support of artillery held the German Panzer Division at bey and thus protected the ANZAC Corps as it made its way towards the embarkation beaches from up past Lamia.

Also we saw the area where the 2/2 Bn repulsed the German attack that came out of pass. A long and incredible day at the end of which we returned to Platamon for dinner.
