On Tour - Egypt and Libya - 25 March 2010

Our long trip today ended in Apollonia where we will be for 2 nights. Apollonia was destroyed by a Tsunami around 342 AD, a result of the huge earthquake that devastated Crete. This area is steeped in history, not so much Western Desert Campaign history but of ancient times.

We did pass through Derna today and this is where there was a large stores base that Rommel captured as he hurried east. There was no major action here as Rommel had bypassed Derna by coming across the desert.

Most of today was spent taking in some of these ancient settlements with their incredible stone edifices. Tomorrow should prove to be very interesting as we continue this historic venture.
