On Tour - ANZAC Day in Athens 24 April 2012

The tour has got off to a very good start and all gathered by the evening of the 23rd April. At 7pm we went into the Plaza to take in some archaeological sites and to visit the oldest continually working bar in Athens. In the bar we tasted some interesting drinks including Ouzo and had some excellent cheese and bread. This was a good way to have the members start to bond.

Following that visit we went to a little family restaurant had dinner together.

The next morning was the start of our full day touring Athens. We visited the copy of the original Olympic Stadium which was used in the 1896 games, is the finish of the Athens marathon each year and was used in the2004 Olympic Games and was used for martial arts and also the end of the Marathon. We moved then to see the changing of the Presidential Guard and then went underground to look at the artefacts exposed during the building of the Metro, the fourth photograph was of a 400 BC grave.
