A Turkish Victory
Today the first surf carnival was held in Turkey. The sea was rough and the conditions not the best for a carnival; our grand programme of events had to be curtailed. Nonetheless the principal event, the surf boat race was won by a composite crew from the Turkish Bogaziçi University students rowing club and Galatasaray rowing club. When the Foster's Beach boat was swamped and crews from McMasters and Lyall Bay (NZ) had difficulties; the Turkish crew were able to steam through to victory.
Board races, ski races and beach events where local children were able to compete as potential nippers completed a great programme.
In the evening all participants joined in a barbeque
