On Tour - Bomber Command (RAAF in the UK) 21 July 2013

This was our second last day on tour as tomorrow we head into London.

We are staying at the Mercure White Hart Hotel in Salisbury and last night was a rather noisy night as there was a wedding being held here. As always, the Bride looked radiant and the Hotel conducted the evening really well and I would say, the food was well received.

Not such an early start as we headed south west to Yeovilton where the Fleet Air Arm Museum is located. This museum is always one of the highlights of the tour and it was the same today. We concluded our visit at 1300 and headed towards Middle Wallop where we were to visit the Army Flying Museum.

We decided to have a ploughman's lunch firstly at the Rising Sun Pub in Ludford. The owner and her helpers were excellent and the caterer prepared a series of ploughman's lunches for our party. An excellent lunch was had by all. But we also stopped at the Fovant Regimental Badges that were depicted on the hillside cut out of the clay and visible for miles.

Our stops meant a late arrival at Middle Wallop and therefore less time in the amazing museum. The staff were excellent towards us and allowed us an extra 20 minutes to view the collection.

Dinner this evening was held in the outdoors, the hotel garden courtyard. An well received menu enhanced this our last night together on Tour for tomorrow we conclude the day in the Pullman St Pancras Hotel. Our last Museum visit tomorrow will have us at Brooklands.
