On Tour - Greece and Crete ANZAC Day in Athens 2011 - 1 May 2011

A very interesting day today, where we firstly went to the Border post at Niki on the Border with the former Yugoslavia to be briefed by the Brigadier that appears in these photographs.

We then proceeded to Xinon Neron where we laid a wreath at the Memorial to those lost in 6 Div.

As the original restaurant we were intending to visit was fully booked due to May Day, we went to a little village in the mountains called Drosopigi. In a very steep valley it was very quaint indeed. Due to an issue in 1944, the Germans burned the village down and killed quite a few of the inhabitants. There is a small museum there to tell that story, and others.

The lunch in the small taverna was excellent with the local style of food presented very well. All enjoyed lunch.

It was getting lte so we decided to head back to our hotel and visit Vevi in the morning.
