On Tour - Bomber Command (RAAF in the UK) 19 July 2013
We left Wolverhampton after the one night and headed south towards Salisbury, but first we ventured off the main road and meandered through the Cotswolds. The small villages were really quaint in their gold coloured stone work. We pulled up at a small village named Broadway which was very beautiful indeed. The Pub, The Crown and Crumpet, had opened early for us and all had a drink which allowed a break from travelling.
Following that stop we continued to Aston Down and the Cotswold Gliding Club. The Club had arranged a wonderful lunch and following lunch, 9 members of our party were able to go Gliding in two seated gliders where an instructor piloted the plane. All had an excellent time.
We continued on our way south, had a "cooks" tour of Bath and headed to our hotel in Salisbury, but first called in to Leighterton tp pay our respects to those men lost while training to be pilots. As it was very late when we arrived at our hotel, we went straight to dinner.
All had a wonderful day aloft, a chance of a lifetime.
