This is the ultimate railway tour for those railway enthusiasts and particularly those who like to smell the smoke from the steam engines and maybe experience a little coal dust in the hair. Unlike a straight run on a steam train this tour intends to visit a number of heritage railway sites to experience the age of steam travelling on the line, viewing the workshops and the many locomotives at the sites. One site has 35 steam locomotives to be viewed and that is only one site.
So, with that ahead of us our group gathered at the Novotel Heathrow, settled in and then we dined together as we will each and every night. At dinner each night we will discuss the day gone by and be briefed on the day ahead. Many have been conducting their own research into what lies ahead, as you would expect enthusiasts to do and all are looking forward to the morning as we meet Michael our driver, load the coach and head off to our first site.
