Today and tomorrow we have a little relief from battlefield visits.
We headed out from Klerksdorp early arriving at the Ditsong National Military Museum in Johannesburg at 1000. We spent 3 hours inspecting the exhibits; look at the photos and you will get an idea of what is there. Lunch followed on the sunny deck outside the A vehicle hangar.
Then on to Church Street Cemetery where we paid our respects to President Kruger, Lieutenants Handcock, Morant and the other Boer War dead.
President Kruger's house followed. A beautifully maintained tribute to a past South African epoch.
Thence to our last stop of the day, Church Square where we were able to check out President Kruger's monument and its new protective fence.
We made it back to our hotel at 1600, earlier than usual giving a short time for relaxation.
Tomorrow we visit Melrose House, have lunch at the Blue Crane restaurant, and visit the Vortrekker monument.
