Today was a day of rest before our long drive tomorrow.
We awoke to a beautiful sunrise over the big hole as we gathered for breakfast.
Afterwards most tour guests took the opportunity to visit the Kimberly Big Hole, and stare into the depths of this feature excavated by man using hand tools alone. Some visited the gift shop for that souvenir from home, others just marvelled at the luxury of Cecil Rhodes personal train carriage and/or toured the reconstructed village, taking in what Kimberley was once like. Some even braved a ride in the tram.
All feeling up to it took a walk into Kimberley, tomorrow we will be vehicle bound for 700 km, and soaked up some local culture, including a vintage car exhibition.
Our evening meal arrived on time as promised, and we made it to bed early; 0800 start tomorrow, we visit battle sites at Belmont and Arundel before we make it to Gariep Dam near Colesberg for the night.
