On Tour - Bomber Command (RAAF in the UK) 20 July 2014

Our last full day in Salisbury and we headed west out past Shaftsbury to the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton. This museum has much to offer as it has the history of the Fleet Air Arm from the very beginning of flight. any aircraft that had been used off Aircraft Carriers by the British Navy are on display as is the display on the Falklands War that takes you from the time the Argentinians invaded up until they signed the surrender.

There is also a mock up of an aircraft carrier and you would believe you are in the real thing. All very well done to make your visit special. Detailed explanations are in place to cover all aspects of the campaigns and in many cases there are video presentations to support the display.

The visit was enjoyed by all except that Wendy and Greg did not join us today as they had relatives who came and met them last night, stayed at the hotel and spent today touring Salisbury with them.

We left after a few hours and headed to a small pub at the base of Shaftsbury Hill where we had a break and lunch. Following lunch we ventured through some lovely countryside as we made our way back to Salisbury.

Tomorrow we head for London via Brooklands Museum and Runnymead Memorial.
