Polygon Wood and Passchendaele Centenary Tour 6 October 2017
Today was our shopping day. We took our bus to Bruges in Belgium. A grand historic city to visit with picturesque buildings, grand canals and cobblestone streets. Shure is a tourist town, groups being guided on foot, in boats, and in horsed carriages. Many shunned the worthwhile box lunch provided by our hotel for a bowl of mussels and potato chips hot chocolates were the drink to die for. Bruges is known best for its Belgian Chocolate and Lace. Many purchases were made.
The day was long, a prang on the freeway ensuring we were not back to our hotel 'till 1800. Dinner was set late at 1930 and well received. Tomorrow we take in our last battle, the iconic battle of Cambrai where the new technologies showed that impassable trench warfare had ended.
