A quick run up the A1 then A29 brought us to the Australian National Memorial at Villers Bretonneux. And the Field Marshal Sir John Monash Centre. We were the largest group so far to experience it, and what an experience. Very high tech, you need a phone and earpieces (some are available for issue) to experience the show, amazing audio visuals that tell the full story of the AIF in France and Belgium 1916 - 1918. The central theatre show is an experience of a lifetime. Our photos below cannot do it justice. You must take the trip and see it in person.
Then into Peronne and L' Historial de la Grande Guerre. The Australian room opened specially for us gave our visitors a special perspective on the Battle of Mt St Quentin and the memorial that was once there. The Museum then opened eyes on WW1 from the perspective of the other combatant nations.
A really great day that concluded with a few well earned drinks and an excellent evening meal.
