The day started with visits to the start of the Battle of the Somme then to the specific Australian involvement at Pozieres and Mouquet Farm.
A side visit to Beaumont Hamel showed the impact of one day, 1 July 1916, on a small independent country of New Foundland. The New Foundland Regiment had served at Gallipoli 1915 to 1916.
Then the AIF Burial Ground Cemetery at Flers.
Then the group moved to Bullecourt memorial and Museum before returning to our hotel, Hôtel Ibis Styles Péronne Assevillers for a special ANZAC eve function.
