On Tour - Our Other ANZAC Day Tour 23 April 2014

This morning we headed north up the A1 from Paris. We visited the Armistice site in the forest at Compiegne. This is the site where the Armistice was signed on 11 Nov 1918.

Leaving Compeigne, we travelled to our accommodation at the IBIS, Assevillers where we received a welcome drink and an Anzac Day themed exhibition of Australian flags, posters and memorabilia.

In the afternoon w e travelled to the Historial Museum in Peronne where we were welcomed by our old friend Domenique Frere. After an introduction to the new layout of exhibits and a briefing on the causes of the war and the start of the Western Front, we toured the museum and Peronne township. That evening the group had a meal in Peronne before returning to our hotel.
