Today was a day in transit. We headed west on the new dual carriageway from in Çanakkale toward Bursa there we visited the Green Mosque and the nearby mausoleum of the Sultan who had the mosque constructed. We marvelled at the architecture and detail of the inlaid texts. We were very impressed with Yavuz knowledge of every facet of the city of Bursa's history.
Then on to Istanbul, crossing an arm of the Sea of Marmara by ferry, and experiencing Istanbul traffic, thankfully lighter than usual as it was Sunday.
After arriving at our hotel, there was the opportunity to experience Istanbul's new high-tech Metro.
Tomorrow we will visit the Hagia Sophia, Topaki Palace and Hippodrome; something to look forward to.
