We left Olympia early as the Museum at Delphi was to close at 15:00 and there was quite a distance to travell plus much to do..
Heading to Delphi via Patras and Itea that are both on the Gulf of Corinth and area that was covered by the 4th Hussars and NZ Cavalry while the evacuations were going on in the Peloponnese. Also, Lt Col King and his 2/7 Battalion were ordered to Amfissa with detachments from 2/1 Field Company and the 2/1 Machine Gun Battalion to block the approaches from the northern side of the Gulf of Corinth.
Morning tea was taken after we crossed the bridge and a very difficult morning tea it was due to the decision process needed to select one's cakes!!
We some how got over that problem and continued on our way arriving at the seaside town of Itea where we were able to have lunch in a lovely fish restaurant by the sea.
Following lunch we started to climb to Delphi and arrived in time to visit the Museum and in the morning we will visit the site of the area where the famous Oracle helped decision making in those times past.
We were fortunate that it has been such great weather as last year we encountered quite a lot of rain on this day. Tonight we will go into the town for dinner. Tomorrow we head over the Brallos Pass to Kalambaka via Domokos, it should be a very good day.
