A beautiful sunny day for the start of our tour. Our first stop was the Glade of the Armistice where the Armistices of 1918 and 1940 were signed. Our group were all most impressed with the small museum that incorporates a display of a railway car similar to that in which the treaties were concluded; there was no negation in either case.
Then to a roadside restaurant at Aire de Ressons Est where we enjoyed an excellent lunch.
We arrived in Péronne at around 1300 and proceeded to l' Historial de la Grande Guerre where again the group were impressed with the display and amount of information included. Being Australians we were also given the privilege of visiting the special Australian exhibition where the capture of Mt St Quentin is shown in excellent detail using the latest audio visual technology.
We then booked into the Hotel St Claude and took time for a stroll around the town before our evening meal.
