Battlefield History Tours specialises in providing very special experiences to those wishing to visit the places where Australian service personnel fought to make Australia the free democratic secular and egalitarian nation it is today. With two exceptions (New Guinea 1942-45 and Vietnam 1966-1972) every Australian soldier to fight for his country has been a volunteer. Men and women who, when asked by their democratically elected government volunteered to serve and in many cases give their lives.
Battlefield History Tours tour leaders are trained soldiers who bring their service knowledge gained by many years of training and leading at a senior level to help interpret our service history. Trained in the deployment of troops and weapon systems and imbued with the history of the units in which they served, they give an unprecedented insight into what our forebears experienced on the field of combat.
Your tour Leader will have researched every battle, and every detail of the terrain; in most cases they will have been there many times before. As well they bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience from Degrees in History, Masters in Business, Members of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides, executive positions within Army Museums and consultancy experience in their work careers. If you have an ancestor who fought in the area a tour covers, let us know, Battlefield History Tours will check on their service record and make certain you visit the key sites where they fought.
Battlefield History Tours conducts tours already to many of the locations shown on the map and has plans to visit them all. Also, should you need support to conduct a special tour for a specific group or students, Battlefield History Tours will develop an itinerary and provide all the logistics associated with the conduct of the tour. Contact us if you wish to discuss a destination, special tour or need details of our planned tours.
